When electricity is properly controlled, it powers just about everything from lights and appliances to power tools and computers. However, uncontrolled electricity can injure or even kill workers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports approximately 2,300 electrical injuries and 186 deaths in U.S. workplaces every year. One common and effective way to control electricity is through grounding. Learners who successfully complete this course should be able to should be able to recognize basics of electricity and grounding and recognize situations where grounding is required. This course is designed for all workers who may use handheld power tools or other electrically powered equipment while at work. This course will assist employers in meeting OSHA’s standards on wiring and grounding equipment. This course is available in English and Spanish.
